When can I play?

When can I play at West End?

If you are a full member, you have access to the courts at any time. West End does not currently operate court booking, but members are expected to be considerate to allow waiting members to play after they have finished their set. Court etiquette requires that if there are people waiting to play, you should restrict yourself to one set and play doubles.

Visitors are welcome, but must be accompanied by a member and signed in on the clubhouse notice
under the member’s name: There is a visitors fee of £3.00/hour payable to the treasurer.

FLOODLIGHTS AND KEYS

Flood light Tokens cost £2, last 30 minutes and are available at the courts on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 until 4:00pm or in emergencies from Lindsay Boyd, Treasurer.

A Clubhouse key will be needed to access the timers. One key accesses the padlock on the Clubhouse plus those on the Ladies and Gents Changing Rooms.

New keys available for £5 deposit from Membership Secretary. Please send payment to Amanda Barclay; 16 Trinity Court, Dundee, DD2 1GY (Cheques to West End Tennis).

During the summer season there is a mens’practice night on Tuesday evening from 18:00 and ladies’ practice from 18:00 on Wednesday. Courts are used for social mixed tennis on Saturday afternoon from midday. Members are welcome to come along to any of these sessions and get a game.

During the summer season (April-September) some weeks, the courts may be in use for home league matches at the following times and so unavailable for general play:

Leagues run from April until the first week of July on:
Monday  18:00-22:00 - Ladies’ league
Thursday 18:00-22:00 - Gent’s league
Saturday 15:00-18:00 (approx) - Junior leagues
Henderson Vase (mixed doubles league) runs July-August on:
Monday 18:00-22:00

To check if any of the West End teams have a home match, please see the tennis tayside pages.

Courts may also occasionally be in use on Friday evening for league matches. If you are not sure, it is best to ask other members for info about the current week’s fixtures.

Junior coaching is held on Saturday mornings from 10:00-12:00 so courts are rarely available at that time. Please check our Coaching Pages for information on other times that court access may be more limited.
